Thanks for the info on the repeaters. I think East Lake and Kirkwood are ahead of us on these things, so that sounds like a strategy we need to work on. We're also Zone 6 and DeKalb, so there should be a foundation in place for it.

Thank you to everyone from East Atlanta that came out. This is the second time for us to turn out a crowd for DeKalb defendant tied to many crimes. A few months back, about a dozen of us from East Lake and Kirkwood turned out for the trial of a guy who had many prior convictions, but had always received light sentences from the judge who was hearing his case. The turnout and letters made enough of an impression that the burglar received a 5 year sentence.

I do have one clarifying point. Here in Zone 6, most of the people who are doing the crimes are repeat offenders. We have a lot of people who have a lot of prior convictions and arrests. We know who they are, and we can be prepared. In East Lake, we have a list of about 25 people who we ask the office of DeKalb community prosecutor Dana Lawrence to keep an eye on. When these people get nabbed and charged, she lets us know, and we start asking for neighbors to write and show up. As we are able to respond by turning out letters and bodies at hearings, we can continue to make an impact for safety.
