Live For Buzz

As of late, the focus of conversation on the Buzz has gravitated toward the growing crime problem our neighborhoods share with all of Atlanta. That’s understandable given the outrage that comes from crime and the immense personal impact rising crime has on residents. And a site like the Buzz is good for fostering conversation and finding solutions for tough issues like crime.

But the crime talk can wear on you after a while.

So it was really refreshing to see an “Internet comes home” story emerge this month. And it goes like this:

- boingboing makes the crafter of a Mario level one scarf Internet Famous
- Buzzer Enduser, himself a crafter, finds the Mario scarf and notices the crafter says she’s an East Atlantan.
- Enduser then asks on the Buzz if anybody knows this “Cassie” who’s making the Mario scarf.
- Cassie (perhaps noticing traffic coming from the Buzz) pipes up on the Buzz, everybody’s in awe of Internet Fame.
- It turns out Enduser and Cassie are neighbors.
- The talk of Mario scarfs and such leads to many Buzzers admitting to a love of knitting and other textile crafts.
- Buzzers organize craft circle (or whatever they call it); get together for knitting at Joe’s.

Good stuff if you ask me.
