Buzzers have a soft spot for animals, and Buzzer localres has ramped up the Critter Crawl benefit started last year to be a multiple-neighborhood, multiple-weekend event.

Here in East Atlanta, the crawl is set for April 5. Hurry if you want tickets.

Not so long ago, there was a nice man named Heath who ran a little auto repair shop on Glenwood Avenue next door to East Atlanta Ace Hardware. Well, Heath closed up shop there and moved on to a new place, but in its wake a very ugly, junk-car-strewn, likely unlicensed and almost surely illegal “auto repair” place has sprung up.

The neighborhood isn’t real happy about this, and the powers-that-be are working to get the place closed down, but Code Enforcement in the City of Atlanta moves slowly at best, so who knows how long this place will stay open.

The space formerly known as Iris, formerly known as Crave and formerly known as Haas has re-opened now as Holy Taco. Fans of East Atlanta’s existing Mexicanish restaurants Cantina La Casita and Blue Frog Cantina were a little puzzled about the arrival of YAMR (Yet Another Mexican Restaurant), but the arrival on the Buzz of Holy Taco’s owner - Wanker (that’s his Buzz name) - on the board helped ease the worry.

Buzzers were so darned excited about the arrival of Holy Taco, they created no fewer than four separate threads created to talk about it.

The conversation continues now, mostly in what we’ve dubbed the “official” Holy Taco thread, and mostly about their menu, the stability of their corn tortillas and (former) lack of cheese dip.

On EAV Buzz: Holy Taco (the official thread).

Distressing news that has also exposed some latent feelings about its owners came with word that Traders is facing hard times and could end up closing shop. For a business that’s been a part of EAV for 10 years, that’s distressing news.

Lots of Buzzer talk went around the importance of Traders for EAV, the state of the economy, and the negative perception a lot of people have about the owners of the business. Conversations aren’t always pleasant, but they are important.
