The stretch of Glenwood Avenue between Boulevard and Moreland Avenue (in Ormewood Park) has experienced quite a change in recent years, due in large part to the development of Glenwood Park. And now residents in the area are working to create an improvement plan for the corridor.

Focusing on making the corridor a more walkable, bikeable gateway to the neighborhoods it runs through and connects, the activists have begun organizing a series of design workshops to discuss and shape plans. The first such workshop is January 26 at Southside High School.

A developer has come forward with a plan to develop seven townhomes on a small tract at 390 Maynard Terrace just south of I-20. It’ll be a tight fit on a bit over a half-acre, and Buzzers are engaging in a discussion about the rezoning filing, questions over smart development and the appropriateness of this particular development.

North of I-20, new townhomes have gone up on Maynard Terrace, and the proposed development location is close to the “hot” Memorial Drive corridor, where it seems just about every vacant or run-down commercial property is a candidate for condos.
